Monday [Barlin] Blue Monday today. Very cold & everything upside down. Got better towards night. Still some snow.

Sunday [Barlin] Very busy today as Sergt went to Auchel. Everything turned out alright. Worked late.

Saturday [Barlin] More snow today but mostly fair & mild. Some melting today. Wrote more letters.

Friday [Barlin] Some snow today. Very cold & stormy. Heavy firing up the line today. Wrote letters.

Thursday [Barlin] Mostly bright & warm today. Very quiet. Boys getting over Xmas. Got parcel today.

Wednesday [Barlin] Everybody feeling tough today and lots of drunks. Nice & warm & bright. Went to bed early.

December 25, 1917

Tuesday [Barlin] Very busy today. Had dinner at 3.30. Had our dinner later. Every thing turned out fine.

Sunday [Barlin] Bright but chilly today. Expected turkey but lorrie broke down at Bologne. Got parcel from Red Cross Northport and a letter. Very busy getting ready for Christmas. Very cold at night.

Saturday [Barlin] Lorries working nearly all night. Fritz shelling & bombing today. Got one letter.
