January 30, 1918

Wednesday [Barlin] Bright & warm today. Went to work at six this morning. Wrote letters tonight till I was tired. Have a bad headache tonight but cold is getting better.

Tuesday [Barlin] Bright but chilly wind till noon then turned warmer. Went for nice long walk today. Got ten letters from Canada & pictures from Petawawa. Worked till seven o’clock tonight.

Monday [Barlin] Nice & mild today. Didn’t get up till 7 o’clock. Feeling pretty tired. Wrote letters at night but didn’t get any. Cold feeling better.

Sunday [Barlin] Just like spring today, mild and birds singing. Got through early tonight. Wrote letters all evening, have them all answered now. Have very bad cold but have stopped smoking and that helps it a lot.

Saturday [Barlin] Quite busy today around cookhouse getting used to things again. Wrote letters all evening then went to bed. Got four letters from Canada. Nice and mild today. Got two parcels today, Mother & Miss Rikely.
