Tuesday [Quevauvillers]

Got up at 5.30. Had breakfast then went on 2nd Brigade lorries to Boves Woods. Stayed there till 5 o’clock then went 1-1/2 km from Gentelles to dump. Got there at 8 o’clock & got back to Quevauvillers at 10.30. Had rum issue & supper and went to bed. Wrote a letter home & a couple of cards. Got papers from home.

    I’m pretty sure that’s a rum issue he had.

    • That was my first thought as well, although I considered that my reading might have been coloured by my father’s journal (he was navy, hence rum played a part 😉 )
