Wednesday

Went on parade at 8 o’clock. After parade wrote some letters and read till noon. Went for a walk after dinner. Got a letter from Mother and one from Hannah this afternoon. Draft paraded at 5 o’clock and got embarkation cards. Expect to leave during the night.

Went to concert by 16th Battalion. Concert party in Y.M.C.A. after supper. Very good indeed.

Bright & warm today.

Wrote a letter to Hannah before going to bed.

April 22, 1919

1919-04-21Bramshott

Monday

Went on parade at 8 o’clock but nothing doing. Read till dinner time. After dinner went to cinema and baseball match. After supper went up through Tin Town and down to concert at Y.M.C.A. Very good.

Bright & warm today.

Draft for Baltic postponed for 24 hours.

Monday

Went on parade at 8 o’clock but nothing doing for me. Sat around the fire till noon. After dinner wrote a letter to Cynthia and then slept till supper time. Went to Garrison Theatre to “The Blindness of Virtue” which was very good indeed.

Had supper and got to bed about 10 o’clock.

April 20, 1919

Easter Day [Sunday]

Got up at seven o’clock. Had breakfast & went on parade at 8 o’clock. Read the papers till noon. After dinner wrote a couple of letters one to mother & one to Hannah. Also sent some cards home. Went to see a baseball game in afternoon. After supper went for a long long walk to Grayshott, Haslemere and back to camp. Got to bed about 10 o’clock. Cold with a lot of wind today.

Saturday

Got up at 7 o’clock. Had breakfast & went on parade. Went through short board [?] and that was all for the morning. After dinner went up and signed last pay certificate and then read till suppertime. After supper went to a concert in Y.M.C.A. Very good.

Got a parcel of papers from home today.

Good Friday

Got up at eight o’clock. Had breakfast & got cleaned up. Went to Waterloo Station and checked our packs & found out the time of the trains. Everything shut up today, just like Sunday. Had dinner and wrote a letter home. Saw a lot of our boys today. Left Waterloo Station at 2.15 for Hazelmere [Haslemere]. Got in there about 5 o’clock. Got into camp about 6 o’clock. Got fixed up regarding kit & blankets & turning in pass. After that I had a good wash and went to the Y.M.C.A. for supper. Worte a letter to Hannah. Got to bed quite early. Bright and very warm today.

Got a letter from Mother & one from Jerry Lapier & a card from H.B.

1919-04-17Left Dublin to London
No sleep at all this morning.
Boat: Duke of Connaught

Thursday

Left Donnybrook at 7 o’clock. Went to Y.M.C.A. for pack. Went back to Westland rail station and left at 8.25. Got to Kingstown about 8.50. Boat left at 9 o’clock. Got to Holyhead about 1 o’clock. Slept all the way over. Train waiting so left in about 20 minutes. Passed Chester, Crewe, Rugby. Got into Euston at ten minutes to eight.

Went to Y.M.C.A. at Euston and booked our beds then went down to the strand and had supper and got back & bed about ten o’clock.

Nice & warm today. Wrote letter at night.

April 16, 1919

Wednesday

Got up at 9.30. Had breakfast & got cleaned up. Went to barber shop. Took a walk around. Had dinner at Dolphin Hotel at 1.30. Got up to Donnybrook about 3 o’clock. Had tea and went for a walk. Got back at about 9.30. Had a few dances & sang till morning. No sleep at all tonight.

Very windy all day but quieted up at night. Expect to leave at 8.25 tomorrow morning.

Tuesday

Got up about 9.30. Packed & cleandd up and had breakfast. Went up town for a walk. Sent registered letter away to mother. Went up to see about train for going back. Sent some more cards of Kingstown. Booked our seats for the Gaiety tonight but did not go. Went for a nice long walk. Bright moonlight. Jack K. came back today. Bright & warm most of the day with a few showers. Got back at 2.30am to bed.

April 14, 1919

1919-04-13Dublin

Monday

Got up 8.45. Had wash & cleaned up. Got breakfast and went to barber shop. Sent some more cards home. Had a lunch about 11.30 and met Mike and went on up to Donnybrook. Had dinner and went to Kingstown walked out but came back by tram. Went down to Jack’s place after we came back and got back to Donnybrook about 8 o’clock. Expected J. Kennedy home but he didn’t come. Left about 10.30 and got home about 11 o’clock. Very tired tonight. A lot of rain today but kept quite warm.
